Syracuse does not stop, after the forced stop due to the coronavirus comes a propulsive boost to tourism initiatives what the city needed to revive tourism and the economy. The historic center of thecity begins to warm up the engines, the tourists arrive, the holiday homes begin to have the much desired guests, the beaches teem with presences.
In this vision of recovery, in the first week of July and throughout the weekend, free guided tour itineraries were organized, with admission ticket, if provided, but free for children, important events in collaboration with the Regional Tourist Guide Association of Sicily , to discover the artistic and cultural heritage of the city.
Over the weekend, thanks tothe “Ortigia Happy Hour” initiative, it was possible to discover the characteristic alleys of Ortigia, a priceless heritage of masterpieces of art and popular culture, listen to their history and their millenary traditions, and finally dive into the wonderful historic center of Ortigia . Serena Intagliata, a highly regarded guide, captured the attention of visitors, allowing everyone to feel inside the story and be its protagonist.
It was an important event that made it possible to rediscover the lesser known places of the cities, places often considered secondary to the great monuments, but equally precious and important because they are rich in history, culture, traditions. Arab streets and important ancient buildings, visitors were thrown between reality and legend, on a unique journey of its kind, from the Greek–Roman to the Arab–Byzantine period, from the Spanish to the Bourbon period, through the most beautiful monuments of city.
The visit that began in front of the Temple of Apollo ended at the mythical Arethusa Fountain, a mythical place that will surely remain in the memory of those who have decided to visit our land.The morning visits were usable by visitors, those in the afternoon were reserved for the owners of accommodation facilities. In order not to disappoint archeology enthusiasts, an «Alternative Tour to Neapolis –“ Journey into Greek Syracuse ”» was organized both to visit the classical monuments of the site and to admire the beauty of the archaeological monuments that represent us in theworld.
