2020 has been a very difficult year for all of us. For those who work in the tourism sector, it was certainly not easy to deal with the difficulties caused by the pandemic. As usual, foreign tourists have not populatedour historic centers, we have dealt with a local audience to whom we must constantly offer tours full of news and moments of leisure and relaxation.Hence the idea of enhancing a place dear to Syracusans but often forgotten … the Fonte Ciane.
The Ciane river environment is an area of significant naturalistic interest, which has attracted scholars and visitors from all over the world for its luxuriant aquatic vegetation where many species of sedentary and migratory birds find refuge. salt and characterized by clear waters, the Ciane river represents a unicum in the world landscape and naturalistic panorama, as for over 2000 years the largest colony of Cyperus papyrus L. in all of Europe still stands today with slenderness and elegance.
In the past, avisit to the Ciane offered a unique emotion as it was possible to go back by boat to the Pisma spring among rows of papyrus that grew along the banks of the river, but today, unfortunately, it requires considerable reclamation. Starting from here, new itineraries will be offered to visitors thanks to the synergy created between local and private tourist guides. Hence the idea of creating an unusual naturalistic–ethnographic itinerary that will allow enthusiasts not only to admire the wonderful Reserve but also the Museum of rural civilization, a journey that will take visitors back 200 years and that will allow them to appreciate the collection private of the Fichera family at the Agriturismo Papyrus.
A magical place full of charm that will come back to light thanks to the organization of multilingual guided tours.
