SYRACUSE – RELIGIOUS TOURISM
In Syracuse, the first Christians, who came from the East, founded one of the largest communities in the Western world, thus giving life to new religious symbols, the testimonies of which are still visible inside the Catacombs.
The city of Syracuse, illuminated by the light of the virgin and martyr Lucia, patron saint of the city, is constantly protected by the gaze of Mary whose tears indicate a path of hope and mercy.
Following the footsteps of the first Christians
The educational-religious tour will allow visitors to learn about the history of the first Christian communities of Syracuse, through a visit to the Catacomb of St. John and the monumental complex of Santa Lucia Extramoenia, which preserves the remains of the original burial of the patron saint and the wonderful canvas by Caravaggio.
Along the way, an obligatory stop, a visit at the Sanctuary of the Madonna delle Lacrime.
