Syracuse participated in the initiative launched on the occasion of the International Museum Day May 19, 2021
On the occasion of the International Museum Day 2021, the city of Syracuse on May 18, took part in an interesting initiative at European level entitled Museum at night challenge.
The social challenge kicked off in Belgium and saw the participation of numerous Italian and European museums in a challenge full of suspense. By illuminating the various museums named for one night and bringing light to the dark period that the world of culture is experiencing and has experienced due to the pandemic, the participants have formed a virtuous chain thus returning to be visible, even only on the web.
The Museum of Peasant Civilization, located in Fonte Ciane, was the absolute protagonist of the event for the city of Syracuse and thanks to the partners of toursiracusa.it, the night video was disseminated on social media, receiving numerous likes and appreciations.
We thank the authors of the video of Syracuse Discover who with great professionalism and a spirit of friendship welcomed the initiative launched by Dr. Serena Intagliata, Syracusan tourist guide, at the invitation of Dr. Carmelo Scandurra, co-director of the Museum of Travelers in Sicily of Palazzolo Acreide. We thank the Regional Association of Sicily Guides and Agriturismo Papyrus for their patronage.
With the theme “The future of museums: regenerating and reinventing oneself”, the International Museum Day 2021 (IMD 2021), professionals in the sector and their communities will be invited to develop, imagine and share new practices of (co) creation of values, new business models for cultural institutions and innovative solutions for today’s social, economic and environmental challenges.
